The women’s softball program has taken home 15 sectional banners over the years, which is more than any other program in CCS history. Currently, several Monarchs play for the Team USA softball team. In 2009, the Monarchs won the National Championship after going 32-0.
Coach Joe Gron has been coaching softball for 19 years and has been the head coach at Archbishop Mitty for the past three years. Under his guidance, the Monarchs have won two league titles and two CCS championships. In 2016, he was named The Mercury News Coach of the Year. When he isn’t coaching Monarchs, Coach Gron serves as the head coach of San Jose Sting Gold, a competitive softball team that he has been a part of for the past 10 years.
