Faculty/Staff Spirituality Series

At Archbishop Mitty we recognize the importance of accompanying and fostering the spirituality and faith development of our faculty and staff. Our goal is to provide resources and opportunities for growth in understanding of the Catholic faith and deepening one’s relationship with God.

Spirituality Series:

The Spirituality Series for Faculty and Staff occur at the beginning of each In-Service Day. Each year they have a particular theme and for the 2018-2019 school year we will focus on the works of mercy. A brief introduction will be given in August and then faculty presenters will focus in on a particular work of mercy and how they engage it in their own life, faith journey, and/or spirituality. More information on the works of mercy can be found here.

Colloquium:

The Colloquium is designed to strengthen our gifts as Catholic educators, deepen our knowledge of the faith, and share our journeys as co-workers "in the vineyard." The faculty and staff are divided into three groups and cycle through each of the different modalities.  One group will partake in a one-evening overnight retreat, focusing on what it means to be a Catholic educator. A second group will participate in a Follow-Up Day of Reflection, to discuss the previous year's retreat. The final group will engage in a Day of Service, which begins by sharing mass together and culminates mid-day.

Retreat Centers

Jesus knew the stress of a busy and full life, yet he also placed importance on taking time for personal prayer, quiet reflection, and rejuvination. We encourage our faculty and staff to create time in their hectic schedules to follow Jesus' lead and "withdraw to deserted places to pray" (Luke 5:16). Some suggested locations, near and far, are listed below.

Spiritual Direction

We encourage our faculty and staff to seek out a spiritual director with whom to share their faith journey. This person encourages a discussion about one's prayer life, how they recognize God in his/her life, and how the Spirit continues to work in their daily activities. These can be arranged based around each individual's schedule and needs. A list of spiritual directors can be obtained through the Campus Ministry office or through the Mercy Center in Burlingame.
