Uplift is a Campus Ministry group that Mitty that is dedicated to students whose parents are going through (or have previously gone through) cancer treatment or those who have lost a parent to cancer.
Our goals are to
- Give a space where students can feel safe and speak freely with peers and know they are not alone going through this stressful time
- Provide an environment where students going through similar experiences can connect and share coping strategies
- Have a venue where students can work through difficult emotions via art, journaling, meditation, group discussions, speakers or walks, for example.
Uplift is moderated by Mitty teachers who have personal experience dealing with cancer, as well as a school counselor. We provide a monthly lunch for the Uplift participants, followed by games, creative projects, discussions and other activities.
If you would like more information about Uplift or your student would like to be a part of this group next year, please contact
