The Monarch Newspaper

Three to four issues are produced each semester by student editors and staff writers who write for the following sections: News, Opinions, Arts and Entertainment, Focus, Sports, Justice Awareness, and Photo. The newspaper's main focus is providing an arena for talented writers, editors, and photographers, who wish to have their voices heard, to produce content that underscores the ideals of the Mitty student body: intellectually competent, faith-filled, just, respectful leaders in the 21st century. The paper is open to any and all entry-level staff writers on all grade levels who show a willingness and openness to learn professional and responsible journalism techniques in collecting information, interviewing, editing, etc. Editors are selected on their ability to lead a cadre of staff writers as well as their ability to learn necessary editing, layout, and design skills using desktop publishing programs.
